League Rules:

All our Youth Sport Leagues will follow IHSAA (Indiana High School Athletic Association) Rule books and will be modified depending on the league and expectations for participants in those programs.

AYSL General Information:

Our Advanced Youth Sport Leagues are meant for athletes/established teams looking to compete at a high level. All practices and games will be located at our YMCA Sportscenter in Crown Point. AYSL will follow IHSAA rules with some modifications for the younger age divisions. Score and team standings will be kept for all age divisions. Teams will be responsible for individual stats. Leagues will finish with a double elimination tournament. During the registration process, you will be given the Youth Sports Parent Manual and will need to sign off on it before completing registration, please take time to read through this manual to acknowledge and understand all our policies and expectations for everyone involved.

We will be offering two separate divisions for AYSL: Select and Elite. Please read each description for the separate divisions below.

Select Division:

This division is solely for individuals who are not part of an established team. Roster spots are not guaranteed and participants will have to go through skill evaluations to be assigned to a team. During the registration process, you will select which division you are looking to take part in, if you are not a part of an established team, please select the selection of the Select Division.

Elite division:

This division is solely for established teams. During the registration process, you will select which division you are registering for, please select Elite Division if you are a part of an established team. Once you select Elite Division, you will need to enter your coach’s name for the established team you are part of.

Volunteer Coaches:

All our youth sport leagues rely on the help of volunteer coaches. Your impact and importance on the development of our youth is of the utmost importance. Volunteer coaching sign-ups are done through separate registration. All children of volunteer coaches will be placed on their team. As a small token of gratification for your efforts and with met expectations agreed upon during the volunteer coach onboarding process, volunteer head coaches will have the opportunity to have their child’s registration fee credited back to their YMCA account after the conclusion of the season. Assistant coaches will have the opportunity to have 50% of their child’s registration fee credited back to their YMCA account.

(For Elite division, teams are required to register with an already designated head coach; the reimbursement policy applies to these coaches as well). For select division teams, volunteer coaches will draft players to teams for post skill evaluations.

Schedules:

AYSL will be an 8-week program. AYSL teams will be guaranteed practice for 75 minutes during the week at the Sportscenter. Practice days will be either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday and it will be selected by the coaches. Games for AYSL will be played on Saturdays and/or Sundays at the Sportscenter. Schedules will be made and sent out no later than 1 week prior to the beginning of the league. With multiple teams in each age division and sport, time requests are not guaranteed, each week teams will play other teams at time slots that pre-set based on how many games we have each Saturday and Sunday. The scheduling of game times is random for each week.

Skill Evaluations: (Select Division Only)

During the registration process, you will need to select a skill evaluation date for your child to attend. Skill evaluations allow us to make teams evenly and fair as possible. If you cannot attend any of the skill evaluation dates, please email Sportscenter leadership.

Roster Formation:

For AYSL, the Select Division, Volunteer coaches will draft players once all skill evaluations occur. Once drafts occur, all rosters will be made available to participants and coaches will reach out to introduce themselves and give practice day and time information. For the Elite Division, teams are formed pre-registration.

Jerseys:

Jerseys are team choice; each team will need a dark and white colored jersey option of home and away games. If you need a vendor to order jerseys, please contact our Sportscenter Leadership.

Communication:

You will receive first emails regarding youth sport league information at least 2 weeks prior to first practices/games. Please confirm primary member email of the Crossroads YMCA membership account.
